Amy Hamilton is a multidisciplinary artist based in Surrey, England whose work spans across drawing, painting and photography. Photography is a central part of her practice, serving as an archive of experiences which then become the foundation of her paintings. Her current work explores nostalgia through looking at decaying fairgrounds - places once full of joy and bright lights now left for nature to reclaim. Amy depicts objects and scenes on metal and wood surfaces, bringing the materials of her subjects to the forefront of the work - leaving sections of copper exposed to the elements allows the paintings themselves to decay over time. Her work invites viewers to observe the quiet deterioration of structures and spaces which are ingrained in our collective memory.
