Carol Burns/ Future

Carol Burns is a Scottish mixed-media artist whose work explores memory, place and the traces people leave behind. Before becoming a full-time artist, she spent more than fifteen years working alongside patients and communities, experiences that continue to shape her practice and her belief that what came before continues to shape what we become. Her current body of work, The Rooted Age, imagines a future where nature and artificial intelligence have merged, realised through painting, sound and an invented language. Her work has been exhibited throughout the UK and internationally, including the Venice Biennale, Miami Art Week, the Royal West of England Academy and the Royal Cambrian Academy.
