Cheryl Cook/ The Palette of Place

Cheryl Cook is a Gippsland-based Australian artist whose practice centres on botanical inks, earth pigments and textiles created through a sustained relationship with place. Working primarily with materials gathered from the bushland surrounding her home, she investigates how prolonged observation can deepen perception and reshape the way we understand landscape. Her work has been exhibited in regional, national and international exhibitions, including Australia and the United Kingdom. Alongside her studio practice, Cheryl presents artist talks and workshops that encourage others to develop their own attentive relationship with the natural world. Her current research explores the conditions that enable recognition—of place, creative capacity, and artistic identity—through sustained engagement rather than immediate certainty.
