Chris Silver/ Summer Issue

Chris is a contemporary Scottish artist whose practice spans painting, photography, drawing, and mixed media. His work is deeply informed by personal experiences, particularly those related to mental health and the complex emotional landscapes of the human form, which he explores through a pop expressionist style. Characterized by a strong emphasis on the emotional connotations of colour and the psychological depth of mark-making, Chris’s art reflects his extensive reading and understanding of art, alongside a focused interest in mental illness. This interest was shaped by the influence of his late mother, a psychiatrist, whose insights and conversations about iconic artists and the links between artistic genius and affective disorders—especially Mania associated with manic depressive illnesses—have significantly impacted his creative practice.
