Elice/ Portraits

Elice is a visual artist from South Korea, currently based in London. She creates portraits of people with whom she has personal connections. Her practice primarily involves pencil and coloured pencils, with occasional use of watercolours or markers.

When she first began making portraits, Elice often depicted strangers, including celebrities or people she encountered on the street. Over time, she began to reflect on whether portraying individuals she had personally met and formed genuine relationships with might allow her to express her emotions more deeply. This shift became central to her practice. She now focuses exclusively on people she has met or dated and who have inspired her in some way.

By spending time with her subjects and getting to know them on a personal level, Elice is able to capture their unique character and beauty with greater depth and sensitivity. Through her work, she seeks to convey the emotions that arise from meaningful encounters and shared moments. She hopes to present her art to a wider audience, inviting viewers to appreciate the beauty and significance of human connection in an increasingly interconnected world.
