Elizabeth Palmer is a multimedia visual artist currently pursuing a master’s degree in Fine Art. Her sculptural practice is driven by dystopian and post-apocalyptic themes, drawing on both theory and fiction to construct speculative future narratives that compel viewers to reflect on the present state of the world and consider how we might navigate the future.
Her ongoing project, The Lost Robots Club, comprises a collection of sculptures and found objects that explore the potential of technology in a world where humans no longer exist. Set within a fictional post-apocalyptic framework, the work examines the complexity of human wisdom through the lens of robots possessing only limited understanding. These machines, left behind by their creators, attempt to make sense of the world using fragmented knowledge.
Palmer’s use of garments made from unconventional materials underscores this concept—highlighting the robots' technical abilities but their lack of human experience. These creations reflect a misinterpretation of clothing’s function, revealing the disconnect between knowledge and lived understanding. The project ultimately seeks to immortalize humanity through the eyes of its robotic remnants, exploring the roles humans assigned themselves, the impact of their actions, and the artifacts they valued most.
