Gayatri Kanth is an artist based in Geneva, Switzerland. Born in India and surrounded by vivid colours, vibrant traditions, and a rich cultural heritage, Gayatri developed an innate appreciation for colour, texture, sound, fragrance, and rhythm. Switzerland later offered her a contrasting yet equally profound experience—the quiet serenity of the Alps, the beauty of nature, the quality of light, the changing seasons, and the ever-shifting colours of the mountains. In many ways, India gave her the vocabulary of colour, culture, people, tradition, music, and memory, while Switzerland introduced her to another vocabulary—that of diversity, nature, light, space, quietness, and serenity. The interplay of these two worlds has become a defining source of inspiration, providing a unique and harmonious foundation for her creativity. Gayatri’s professional journey took her from the Indian Parliamentary Secretariat to a career as a diplomat in Geneva. Her professional life and extensive travels brought her into close contact with diverse cultures, art, and architecture, further deepening her appreciation for artistic expression across the world. Art has always been Gayatri’s refuge and a powerful means of self-expression. Over the years, she has explored a wide range of artistic styles and mediums, including Tanjore, Gond, realism, portraiture, porcelain, acrylic, oil, charcoal, and mixed media. Her artistic practice is an ongoing exploration of form, emotion, memory, and human connection. Now retired from her professional career, Gayatri is increasingly active within the artistic community. She continues to experiment, learn, and discover new forms of artistic expression, allowing each work to become a dialogue between her experiences, her surroundings, and her inner world. Her work has also received public recognition. Following a public vote at the Autoportrait exhibition in Grand-Saconnex, Geneva, two of her artworks were honoured with the Public Award. Gayatri holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Rajasthan, India.
