Jiayue Wang is an artist and experimental video creator born in China and currently based in London, UK. Working primarily with experimental video, Wang’s practice extends to photography and cross-media art, exploring themes of identity fluidity, belonging, and emotional memory within a cross-cultural context. The creative process is rooted in the experience of fluid identity and framed through the perspective of the “Third Space,” reflecting on cultural differences while constructing new personal narratives.

Low-saturation color palettes, minimalist compositions, and multi-layered sound structures are employed to juxtapose real memories with fictional imagery, forming immersive experiences that exist between reality and imagination. The works explore the interplay between personal and collective experiences, functioning as both observation and documentation as well as processes of self-reflection and emotional resonance. Each video invites viewers to evoke their own memories and engage in an empathic emotional connection with the work.
