‘’At the age of 12, I was given a Kodak Instamatic and have been hooked on photography ever since. I was brought up in Poole, Dorset, so I have lived by the sea all my life; the UK coastline has been an ongoing passion. I love how light and colour can interact with the landscape and sea, changing the mood entirely. I try to evoke a sense of place, a connection to my images, and each picture is unique like a fingerprint as the light, weather, seasons, and environmental conditions, such as the tide, control the result. There will only be a few seconds to capture the moment, then it’s gone! I take my camera out mainly just before dusk in winter as colour and dramatic light contrasts are at their best. I like holding the camera and deliberately moving it to create the effect that it is in context with the subject, trying to create an atmospheric image which is more like a painting.’’
