Kai Johnson is a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in London. He documents events all over the country and is currently studying Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the University of the Arts London. Specialising in photojournalism and documenting political events, he captures intimate and powerful moments between demonstrators, carefully creating thought-provoking imagery that reflects the current political climate in the UK.

This series documents the “Unite the Kingdom” rally in London as both a political gathering and a public performance of identity. With predominantly intimate observation, the images explore nationalism, belonging, and the emotional atmosphere of contemporary Britain. These photographs convey the incredible atmosphere of the day through loud spectacles and quiet moments between demonstrators. The series reflects on a country negotiating anxiety and cultural fragmentation, asking how collective identity is shaped, portrayed, and remembered in moments of social change.
