Kittie Coe/ Book Edition
Kittie Coe is an emerging artist, with a focus on creating illustrative artwork remiscient of dreams and once known places; merging dreams, whispers of childhood to explore feelings of uncanny and sorrow.
Focusing on their own lived experiences growing up alienated from society due to mental difficulties and living in the countryside.
Their practice utilises hand-building techniques as self soothing and expression to let their true feelings be woven through each piece like a fable, resulting in a large variety of work including steel, ceramic and latex moulding.
These works often mirror natural forms to emphasise an uncomfortable feeling, blending foggy memories and childhood stories with bright, unnatural patterns and textures with the artist often being a central character within. The audience can recognise the story being told, but juxtaposing the relativity with sharp and hostile shapes encourages the audience to look deeper.
