Laura Candet/ Holidays

Born in 1999 and raised in Bacău, Romania, Laura Candet is a contemporary artist whose practice engages with the growing crisis of femicide in Romania and across the world. Drawing from her own experiences of gender inequality, she translates frustration, vulnerability, and the emotional intensity of the present moment into a powerful visual language.

Combining academic research with artistic experimentation, Candet approaches her subjects through both theoretical inquiry and practical investigation. Her work reflects a deep engagement with contemporary social realities while maintaining a strong conceptual and visual foundation.

Alongside her ongoing doctoral studies and participation in international exhibitions, Candet has been supported by the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation through its Young Talents scholarship and international projects. Her artistic development has also included collaborations with the Palace of Culture in Iași, scholarships at the Academies of Fine Arts in Venice and Verona, and artistic residencies in cities including Barcelona and Paris.

Within her symbolic vocabulary, the goat becomes a powerful image of transformation, rebirth, and spiritual unity. Constructed from traditional blankets featuring archaic patterns and wood, it connects the ephemeral nature of existence with the endurance of cultural traditions, reflecting how symbols, rituals, and forms of knowledge are carried from one generation to the next.
