Maureen Shafer is an up-and-coming Canadian artist whose watercolour paintings reflect her love of colour. She has an intuitive sense of how to use it to create a mood, whether she's using bright or subdued pigments when creating a painting. Even when using bright colours, she is able to create colour harmony in her artworks. Maureen loves to experiment, play, and explore. To that end, she likes to employ a wide range of techniques in her paintings. She especially likes doing wet-into-wet work and making wet, sloppy messes when she paints. When it comes to style, Maureen feels stifled if she tries to limit herself to one artistic style; hence, her work ranges from loose and abstract to more tightly controlled and representational.
