Miku Yanagi is a Japanese artist based in the Netherlands. She studied art and museum studies in Japan and holds a curator qualification. Through her ongoing project, Oritatamuseum, she reconstructs museum experiences into foldable paper architectures and self-published zines. Inspired by experiences between Japan and Europe, her work explores memory, reconstruction, and the circulation of cultural experiences beyond their original locations.

Oritatamuseum is an ongoing project that transforms memories of museum visits into foldable paper structures and self-published zines. Before moving to the Netherlands, many European artworks and museums existed for me only through books and images. Even when famous works traveled to Japan, I realized that encountering them in temporary exhibitions felt different from experiencing them within their original museum context. Through reconstruction rather than documentation, I explore how museum experiences can be remembered, shared, and reimagined across places and cultures.
