Philip McCumskey/ Abstract Art

Philip McCumskey is a South African artist now based in West Sussex, England. He studied Fine Art at Stellenbosch University. His paintings bring together vibrant colours, unique textures, and abstract forms. He works incredibly intuitively, reacting to present feelings, emotions, and instincts on the canvas. A master of texture, he builds layers to his artworks using a range of tools, often scraping, adding and removing paint, making marks, and incorporating collage and other mixed media to create abstract works of unique and captivating character. Philip's work has been exhibited at Fronteer Gallery in Sheffield, The Badger in the Wall gallery in Yorkshire, and Fox Yard Studio in Suffolk. His painting, Window of the Soul, was featured in The Telegraph newspaper and was sold at the 'Spring' 2025 exhibition in Leeds.
