Sandra Valencia/ Minimalism

Sandra Valencia is a Colombian-born self-taught artist based in London. She studied Interior Design at London Metropolitan University and, after completing her course, worked at an art consultancy studio, where she first gained experience in making art. Her curiosity and creativity led her to establish her own business and build a career spanning over twenty years across creative disciplines. For much of her life, she felt she was “tiptoeing around art”, drawn to it but always hesitant to pursue it fully. Only in recent years has she focused on developing her artistic practice, with a particular interest in portrait painting. Drawing on this diverse background, she has developed an interdisciplinary approach that embraces experimentation and material exploration. Her work is informed by lived experience, resilience, and a sustained commitment to artistic inquiry. She has participated in selected group exhibitions and continues to expand her practice through ongoing research and studio-based work.
