Sarah Hughes is a visual artist from the North East of England, currently based in Sheffield. Her practice encompasses painting and drawing, drawing inspiration from nature, folklore, and the human body. While deeply rooted in her personal experiences, her work is continually shaped by the world around her.

Hughes' visual language moves fluidly between bold, illustrative figuration and abstraction, incorporating organic forms and the rhythms of bodily movement. Her practice is driven by an ongoing exploration of the body—its sensations, movement, and experiences of pain that often resist explanation. By investigating the body's physical and emotional complexities through abstraction, she creates works that invite reflection on the unseen and often unspoken aspects of human experience.
