Seyda Alkin is a contemporary abstract artist whose work explores identity as a fluid, unsettled state shaped by transition, emotional displacement, and inner contradiction. Born in Turkey, lived in the Netherlands, and now based in the United Kingdom, her practice is informed by lived experiences of movement, shifting environments, and the psychological spaces that exist between certainty and doubt.

Working primarily with spray paint, charcoal, and mixed media, Alkin creates atmospheric compositions where softness is interrupted by subtle acts of resistance; text, gestures, or marks that refuse complete resolution. Her work often balances restraint and intensity, inviting viewers into moments of suspension rather than declaration.

Although Alkin’s academic background is in Behavioural Sciences, art has been a constant presence throughout her life. Her understanding of perception, emotion, and human behaviour informs a practice that is intuitive yet conceptually grounded. Through abstraction and text, she aims to create spaces where personal experiences dissolve into shared emotional states, allowing viewers to encounter fragments of their own interior landscape.
