Tima Aalizadeh/ Summer Issue

Tima Aalizadeh is an Iranian printmaker currently living and working in London. She holds an MA in Printmaking from Middlesex University and a BA in Graphic Design from Guilan University, grounding her practice in both technical skill and visual storytelling. Aalizadeh’s work is driven by an interest in capturing emotion through the interplay of light and shadow, often evoking imagery that feels as though it emerges from a dreamlike realm. Working primarily with intaglio processes, particularly mezzotint and etching, she constructs atmospheric prints that combine meticulous technique with a subtle psychological tone. Her practice is deeply process-led, engaging the physical act of making and the tactile resistance of materials, where mark, tone, and layered surfaces become carriers of embodied experience. Through this material engagement, her works unfold as connected collections, inviting reflection on presence, sensation, and the quiet agency of the body within increasingly virtual modes of perception. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Bankside Gallery, Kirkby Gallery, and in solo shows at 20 Cuckoos Gallery and Firstfloor Studio, Group Exhibition at 20 Cuckoos Gallery, etc. Her prints frequently appear as connected series, forming cohesive bodies of work that tell a visual story. Her professional work reflects a strong commitment to material knowledge, studio discipline, and the transmission of printmaking skills through accessible, process-led instruction. Based within London’s contemporary printmaking community, Aalizadeh continues to develop her personal practice alongside collaborative work with professional studios, contributing to the broader field through teaching, workshops, and specialist printmaking projects.
