Tracy Mackenna/ Water & Metaphors

Tracy Mackenna is a Scots-Italian artist, curator, scholar, and educator whose practice and research contribute to the development of contemporary visual arts practice and art education. Since the 1990s, she has received public and private funding and has been awarded numerous commissions, producing installations, site-specific projects, artist’s publications, workshops, and events.

Her specialist areas include contemporary art practice, artistic research, art writing, collaborative practices, mentoring, publishing as an artistic practice, and art education. She is the Curator of The Museum of Loss and Renewal residency programmes and publishing initiatives.

Tracy has spent extensive periods living and working in Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, and Romania, where she has made and exhibited work while establishing artist-led organisations, collaborations, and international partnerships between institutions. She is a founding Director of Glasgow Sculpture Studios and contributed to the establishment of the French art organisation artconnexion, which creates innovative connections between artists and society. She is also an Academician of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture.
