Demeter Dykes lives and works in Dorset, UK. She completed BA(Hons) Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art and MA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts.
Her practice revolves around making with materials that are intrinsic to her everyday life and is often performative, spontaneous and ad hoc. Gentle humour, absurdity and a sense of non-sense interweave with attention to detail within her videos and photographic images.
Demeter was a shortlisted artist for Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2020-21 and was a funded participating installation artist for Bournemouth Emerging Arts Fringe 2019/22.
She is also a lecturer at Arts University Bournemouth on the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.
