Joanna is an artist and senior lecturer at Leeds Beckett University, Leeds School of Arts. Her practice research explores the body space developing choreographic and embodied practices by producing drawings, installations, and performances. She has exhibited with the Drawing Research Network, received live projects funding, and recently completed a Practice-based Ph.D.
Joanna researches, studies, draws, and performs movement structures. Central to her practice is line-making. Lines connect movement, flow through movement, and are mediated by the body. Her drawings work in parallel to larger-scale works to extract movements from her movement encounters with materials, spaces, objects, systems, and actions. These studies follow those concerns of thinking through felt body space and movement encounters. Each work submitted here represents a body of work.
