Kaifeng Gu/ The Abstract Dialogue

Kaifeng Gu is a London-based photographer and visual artist currently studying Photography at the London College of Communication (LCC). His work explores the intersections of personal identity, psychological states, and social structures, employing photography, moving image, and mixed-media experimentation to construct multilayered visual narratives.

His artistic practice delves into themes of nihilism, memory, corporeality, and emotional perception, seeking expression at the threshold between reality and imagination. Beyond the image itself, she engages with the physicality of materials, incorporating text, collage, and installation to push the boundaries of photographic representation and viewer interaction.

End, 2024

“END”employs photography and painting in order to narrate ideas around memory, the everyday, the self and psychogeography. When it comes to myself, my life, and the world,I am always confused. I feel like the mind and the reality is too chaotic. And we need time to talk to ourselves. Try to find the real me, real thing we want do. Maybe I could find what I want chasing for through practices like this. At that moment, the camera replaced my eyes, taking me to observe the world and myself in another sight. What I recorded, is the map of decode me.I also use these mediums as a self-exploration and photography and process as therapeutic exercises. Throughout the process, I have gained a deeper understanding of who I am. We still have time to learn everything there is to know, even though we aren't entirely certain that their claims are true. Every single thing that we have done or will be doing is nothing more than an attempt.
