Rebecca is trained as a watercolorist, completing an HND and Level 4 in botanical illustration. However, life and children came along, and it took her 24 years to finally find the time to dedicate to her art. This year, she took the leap, got herself a studio, and dedicated all her time to her art.
While she enjoyed watercolor, after taking a class in acrylics and doing some online research, she decided to try bas relief plaster work, which she has totally fallen in love with. The process starts with a collection of carefully selected natural subjects impressed into clay and then cast in plaster. She loves that these castings are like a 'time capsule' of a season or habitat, similar to fossils—collected and rendered even after the flowers and the day have faded.
