René Siepmann/ Winter Issue

René Siepmann is a contemporary self- taught painter who lives and works in North-Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) and portrays / explores the depths of what it means to be a human being in the world we are currently living in. Siepmann began to work as an artist during his early teenage years while being confronted with famous artists like Jean Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, and Takashi Murakami through the internet and art classes in middle school. Inspired by these artists, he taught himself to draw and paint in order to express himself through visual art. For him, creating art is a way to channel his rather introverted manner into an expressive one similar to a mental dam breaking down and letting the held back thoughts and experiences flow onto the canvas.

Siepmann’s work deals with the visual capture of the fast, fluent and ongoing changes within the field of our society and humanities phenomena such as psychological issues, our future and destiny as well as political and pop cultural events. He is mostly inspired by his own environment but also by science, history, pop culture and ancient myths. He aims to inspire others, to show them new perspectives and wishes to catch the interest of the viewer which results in him / her to broaden their horizon on the issues depicted in his work.
