Sanika Devdikar/ Spring Issue

Sanika Devdikar is trying to generate style for herself as a multidisciplinary artist with the help of creating a sense of belonging through objects. She thinks that memories and nostalgia plays a very important role in our lives, and it is through objects that every family carries memories like a time capsule from one generation to another. Sanika's photography style can be defined as personal, nostalgic and extremely raw. This research project is titled as 'Dhaaga' meaning Thread in her native language Marathi belonging to the state of Maharashtra in India. It explores her relationship with her mother and grandmother through objects they owned and used over the course of time, and years later these objects migrated to England, and they keep the memories and nostalgia of her childhood years alive.
