Red threads in Tamara Berger's art are the role of women, and gender in general, both in traditional art and in contemporary society. The ideas of Judith Butler, an American philosopher known for her performative model of gender, are also used as inspiration. Gender categories "male" and "female" are not given as natural or absolute, and binary is constructed through repetition of everyday practices, as many of Berger's paintings show. Berger's art speaks for empowerment of woman, LGBTQ+ community and deconstruction of masculinity.
